Affecting roughly 5% to 10% of women all over the world today, PCOS, or polycystic ovary syndrome, is one of the major causes of female infertility. The said condition affects most women within the reproductive age bracket of 12 to 45 years old. The classic signs and symptoms of PCOS are anovulation or irregular menstruation, amenorrhea, acne, and excessive amounts of androgenic hormones that cause masculine features. Although the condition is idiopathic or unknown with regard to epidemiology and causality, PCOS has been correlated with certain conditions such as insulin resistance, obesity, and diabetes. Take note that not all cases of PCOS involve infertility problems, and thus, getting pregnant is still possible. The tips presented below are the steps that you can take in order to increase your chances of getting pregnant, even if you are affected by PCOS.

• Mind the scale. Unless you are a sumo wrestler, being overweight does not provide any benefit, in fact, science has shown that obesity is responsible for a good number of the chronic health conditions that many face. These drugs stimulate the ovaries which triggers the production of HCG which starts ovulation. It is advisable to take a visit to your obstetrician/gynecologist for further assessment.

• Sometimes, the right timing can provide the best results. This principle can also be applied to the act of conception. Take your time to measure your basal body temperature in the first hour in the morning when you wake up. You’ll notice an increase in your temperature when ovulation is about to come. Having sex three days before your ovulation or on the day of ovulation increases your chances of getting pregnant.

• Get a checkup from your doctor. Undergoing some intrauterine inseminations make it easier for the sperm to reach the egg. Ask your doctor about this procedure to help you in your quest to get pregnant even with PCOS.
